Looking into the future with reality

There are many issues regarding building a new medical clinic that could be addressed.  I am going to bring up just one line of thought.  The plans for the new clinic are based on life as we have known/know it.  If we read world news and can be honest with ourselves, it is obvious that the way of life/economy that we have known can no longer sustain and is being forced to change.  Along with this change, hopefully, will come a reduction in population, or at least no increase.  If the idea of a new medical clinic is looked at in light of the reality of the changing economy it is obvious it is a bad idea, especially if one thinks of the amount of commercial building that is currently going on here and the number of businesses poised on the brink of failure.

As a community we need to step back and look to the future without rose-coloured glasses, but with reality.  Then we need to seriously think about how much empty retail space the community wants to watch deteriorate, because that is what is going to happen.

The letters from Verna Gregson regarding use of the Professional Centre and Kelly Brooks regarding use of Twin Beaches were both excellent letters.  I would like to see GHCS address these letters in a public commentary.  It appears there been very little public dialog regarding the idea of the clinic and what is already available.  If the GHCS can relate to the community why neither of the already established places can work for the clinic, then perhaps there are people in the community who can facilitate and help resolve those problems.
